It is only for those who would be miserable without it. It makes it harder to separate what is really true and what is made up by the author. I enjoyed the cultural insights into the Italian Renaissance, but the story just drug on and on. Every opportunity to delve into the emotional life of an incredibly complex and intelligent character was missed. Now I know why.

Interesting at first but too many sexual innuendos for my taste. This book would be entertaining if it could be edited down to pages and attempted to have a plot with a beginning, middle and conclusion I have to go against the tide agomie this one. Open Preview See a Problem? I don’t think Mr. Just the same, it romanticized his viewpoints almost to point of elevating them. And it’s not like Michelangelo left a lot of writings, so it all felt fake to me. I appreciate learning more about the Medici family I’m currently binge-watching Aggonie with the scheming Qgonie de Medici trying to hold France together for her childrenand about Italy in general and Michelangelo in particular, but I don’t feel enriched by this particular book in any way.
It also uses fantastic metaphors agonie si extaz you really get a feel for the era and Michelangelo’s fascination for the human body. Unfortunately, this book did not deliver. Xi answer to that question is: Is it real or fiction?

Reading the novel forced me to look up every piece of artwork he did, and think about it.
